Privacy Policy

MahjongWoo has no accounts, no login, and no server of ours. Your game lives on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud database. The only data that leaves it is what's needed to show ads and process purchases.

Summary

In plain terms:

  • We do not ask for your name, email, or any account. There is no sign-up.
  • We do not operate a server that stores your data. Your coins, unlocks, stats and saved game are kept on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, in your own private iCloud account — which we cannot read.
  • We do not use any analytics or attribution SDK of our own.
  • The app shows ads through Google AdMob, which processes device and advertising identifiers. You are asked for consent first.
  • Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.

What the app handles

CategoryWhat it isWhere it goes
Game data Coins, unlocked tile sets, backgrounds and layouts, statistics, achievements, Daily Challenge streak, settings, and any saved in-progress game. Stored on your device and mirrored to your private iCloud database via Apple's CloudKit, so progress follows your Apple Account. Only you can read it — Apple does not give us access, and it is never sent to our servers. Sign out of iCloud and the app simply keeps everything locally.
Advertising data Device advertising identifier (IDFA, only if you allow tracking), IP address, coarse location derived from IP, device and OS type, and how you interact with an ad. Collected and processed by Google AdMob under Google's own privacy policy.
Consent choices Your answer to the Google consent form and to Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Stored on your device and used by the ad SDK to decide between personalised and non-personalised ads.
Purchase state Whether you own Remove Ads, a cosmetic pack, or a bundle; and coin grants from purchases. Validated by Apple via StoreKit; the resulting entitlement is stored on your device.
Reminders Optional local notifications about your daily reward or a lapsing streak. Scheduled on your device by iOS. No push server, no device token, nothing sent anywhere.

We do not knowingly collect precise location, contacts, photos, health data, or any special-category personal data.

How it's used

  • To run the game and save your progress between sessions.
  • To grant and track coins, unlocks, streaks and achievements.
  • To display advertising and to let Google measure ad delivery and prevent ad fraud.
  • To deliver and restore purchases you have made.
  • To send the optional reminders you have enabled.

Legal bases (EEA / UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: consent for personalised advertising and for notifications; contract for delivering purchases you make; and legitimate interests for showing non-personalised advertising to keep the app free and for preventing fraud and abuse.

Advertising & consent

MahjongWoo is free and supported by advertising from Google AdMob. Three formats appear:

Banner

Menu screens only — never during a game.

Interstitial

Occasionally between games, spaced out by a cooldown.

Rewarded

Always opt-in. You choose to watch one for bonus coins or a free reshuffle.

No ad is requested before you have been asked. On first launch the app runs Google's User Messaging Platform consent flow — which presents a GDPR/ePrivacy consent form where the law requires one — and then Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Only after both have resolved does the Google Mobile Ads SDK start.

If you decline tracking or withhold consent, ads become non-personalised: they are still shown, but are not based on a profile about you.

The app also includes Apple's SKAdNetwork identifiers, a privacy-preserving Apple framework that lets advertisers measure campaign performance without identifying you.

Google acts as an independent controller for the advertising data it collects. A list of Google's advertising partners is available at Google's ad technology providers page.

Children

MahjongWoo contains no objectionable content and carries a 4+ age rating on the App Store. That rating describes the content — it does not mean the app is aimed at young children.

For privacy purposes, MahjongWoo is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age of digital consent where you live). It is not part of Apple's Kids Category, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us using the details in section 10 and we will act on it.

Parents and guardians can disable in-app purchases and limit advertising using Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions on iOS.

Your rights & choices

Controls on your device

  • Tracking: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking — turn MahjongWoo off at any time.
  • Ad personalisation: manage it at Google Ad Settings.
  • Reminders: MahjongWoo → Settings → Reminders, or iOS Settings → Notifications.
  • Delete everything: deleting the app removes all game data from your device permanently.

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. Because we hold no personal data on any server, most of these rights are exercised directly through the device controls above; for anything held by Google, contact Google using their policy. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell your personal information for money. Sharing device identifiers with Google for personalised advertising may be treated as a "sale" or "sharing" under the CPRA; you can opt out by declining the tracking prompt or turning tracking off in iOS Settings. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.

Similar rights under other laws — including Brazil's LGPD, Canada's PIPEDA, and comparable frameworks — are honoured on the same basis.

Retention & security

Game data stays on your device, and in your private iCloud database if you are signed in, until you delete it. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to retain, back up, or lose. To erase the synced copy, delete the app's data from iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.

Data handled by Google and Apple is retained according to their own policies. All network traffic from the app uses encrypted HTTPS/TLS.

International transfers

MahjongWoo is available worldwide. Google and Apple may process advertising and purchase data on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under their own transfer safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We ourselves transfer nothing, because we receive nothing.

Controller & contact

The controller for the limited processing described here is:

Dumitru Rogojinaru, independent app developer
dumitru.rogojinaru@icloud.com

Email is the fastest way to reach us, and privacy questions are usually answered within a few days. If you need our registered postal address — for example to exercise a legal right or to contact a supervisory authority — ask by email and we will provide it.

For advertising data, Google acts as an independent controller; requests about that data should go to Google directly using the policy linked in section 5.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced inside the app. Continuing to use MahjongWoo after an update means you accept the revised policy.
